Hippocrates Docs welcomes Dr. Bandana Chawla who shares the 4 pronged approach to reducing the risk of breast cancer as recommended by Dr. Kristi Funk and PCRM. She outlines the importance of this 4 pronged approach to health and breast cancer prevention: (1- choose plant-based foods; 2-maintain a healthy weight; 3-limit alcohol; 4-exercise regularly). Dr. Chawla focuses on one prong in particular that can have such a powerful positive effect on prevention as well as the rate of recovery from surgery or drugs associated with cancer treatment, and with recovery. Dr. Chawla is a board certified physician in Internal Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. She has been practicing as an internist in the Houston area for over 20 years and is a co-founder in a lifestyle medicine clinic in the Houston area. She actively invites patients as well as the community to participate in activities that happen regularly at the clinic or virtually. Dr. Bandana Chawla, along with her husband, Dr. Munish Chawla, also Board Certified in Lifestyle Medicine, recently joined Hippocrates Docs in collaboration with Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (“PCRM”) to share, connect, and give you answers in their Dialogue segment of the RADIANT HEALTH DIALOGUES Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention SUMMIT. Their Topic: “Using Lifestyle Medicine to Beat Breast Cancer” was one with very actionable steps. Your Challenge: Make exercise a regular part of your daily routine reducing your risk of cancer and for many chronic diseases. Commit to 21 minutes a day of what feels right to you (walking, swimming, zumba, pilates, yoga) and add in strength and resistance training. Hippocrates Docs and PCRM challenge you to join us in the Let’s Beat Breast Cancer Initiative. Implement these 4 steps to reduce the risks of Breast Cancer and to help in healing: choose plant-based foods, exercise, limit alcohol, and aim for a healthy weight.
